Answers

#1. Nacho Libre from "Nacho Libre"

#2 The Joker from "The Dark Knight"

Okay so maybe this one was a little stretch of my imagination. My brother McKenzie guessed it, but this is who he was for Halloween last year.

#3 Doug Heffernan from King of Queens

Although I really like NaDell's answer of the late Steve Irwin.

Thanks for playing along!

Name that character

This is just for fun to see if you can guess what TV or Movie Character Michael resembles in these pictures. Remember this is based off my opinion. :)

#1
(the pants are a clue, not the toy)

#2
(yes the messy face is important)

#3
(Aunt Shelby came up with this one,
if you can find her comment from the original post of this picture)

Another clue I'll leave you... #'s 1 & 2 are movie characters and #3 is a TV character.
Happy guessing & good luck! Just leave a comment with your answers.
I'll post the answers Monday.

This is not for those of you with a weak stomach...

As I was checking my email this afternoon I read one from Baby Center. I clicked on one of the articles to read and was taken to their website. I noticed a blog being advertised at the top.
It read:

She ate her placenta, would you?
(Click to read article)

I was immediately drawn to the topic because it sounded insanely interesting. Call me gross. I read the article/blog post and thought that it was a disgusting idea and I would never ever consider it.

Did you know there was such a thing as Placentophagy?

Reading others opinions on the matter though were interesting. I became more open to the idea after reading random comment #357 . It reads:

LISTEN UP, LADIES…

I read through each of the 356 posts.
Here’s a summary:
- It’s NOT cannibalism.
- Many cultures around the world do it. Americans do things that others think are gross and strange.
- Why do it? It provides nutrients and hormones you can’t get anywhere else.
- Most of you are downright mean and acting like Jr High girls, with your name-calling and superlatives.
- Just because a concept is new to you, doesn’t make it gross or strange, only gross and strange to YOU.
- It isn’t any more disgusting than hotdogs or fast-food burgers (anyone seen Supersize Me?)! Add enough chemical flavors, and Americans will eat anything!

Della(#106): Thanks for sharing the Wiki definition.
Book Nerd(#121), Melanie(#174), & Moira(#315): Thanks for your testimonies.
Michelle(#207): Filipinos don’t eat cat. Cantonese do. Get to know your neighbor better.

Extra info: In China (where I live), for those who don’t eat it, the hospitals sell it to cosmetic or drug companies. That’s right - YOUR BEAUTY PRODUCTS CONTAIN PLACENTA!

As for me, I don’t think I could eat it, though I would like to for the medical benefits. Melanie’s story made it sound good, so maybe I could that way. I mean, occasionally I can down a hot dog or fast-food burger, as long as I don’t think about what I’m eating. I wonder if I can get it made into pills in Shanghai. hm. Either way, I’m not letting the hospital make money off it!

My favorite part of what she said was the 5th point she was made, "Just because a concept is new to you, doesn’t make it gross or strange, only gross and strange to YOU."

A lot of the responses to this article were negative, very negative. I didn't read them all but enough to feel how others felt on the topic. I think we are not open to new ideas enough and just close our eyes and ears refusing to listen to something that could educate us. Now I am not saying I would eat a placenta but I am open to the idea of learning about something I had no idea about before.

Did you read the article? What do you think about Placentophagy?

Train Ride

Catching up from two weeks ago here...

There is an awesome park here that has a train ride though it.
We decided to go ride it with some friends a week ago Thursday.

Here's Michael seeing the train for the first time.
He was a little distracted by the birds before the train pulled up.

Getting ready to take off.

Laura was talking in the video about this:
(sorry Laura you can get me back later- oh wait you moved away!)

Our friends- Hayden, Dirk & Laura.

A little scared about half way though:

Michael did really well riding on the train and periodically he'd say "choo choo" and do the motion with his arm. Although he pretty much looked like this the whole ride:Taking it all in- it's serious business!

Easter 2009

Easter started off a little wet and in more ways than one.
First of all it rained all night long
Second - Michael decided he wanted to try out his Easter toys in the pool... while wearing his pj's. I was in the kitchen prepping dinner before church, I turn around and saw this...

Here we are waiting for Michael to notice his Easter basket and goodies
(Can you tell he's teething again?).

I spy...

Mmm crayons in the mouth. YUK!
Dumping it out to see the loot. No candy here.
Still a happy camper!

The only decent picture of Michael in his Easter outfit.
Aunt Shelby picked this out for Michael's Birthday.

THE HUNT BEGINS!!
Caylynn, Ethan and Michael hunting for eggs.

We invited Christina and her kids over for dinner and an Easter egg hunt.
We had a lot of fun visiting with them and it was fun seeing Michael play with her kids.
Her husband is deployed in Iraq.
Joe was supposed to be there with him.

Checkin' out the loot of candy and stickers. We gave Michael's candy to Ethan.

We enjoyed our warm Easter day, hope you all did too!

18 month check up

This morning Michael had his 18 month check up. Here are the stats:

Weight: 25lbs 5.7 oz= 75%
Height: 32.01 in/81.3 cm= 50%
Head: 48.5 cm /19.09 in=60%

He's a very happy and healthy boy!

This week while shopping I couldn't resist buying Michael this set of plastic golf clubs. I think they suit him quite well. Once out of the package he liked to push and pull the golf bag. He hasn't a clue what the clubs are supposed to be used for. Although he's made due and used them to get things off of high places.

Waiting for toast

*If the video stops on you just scoot the bar over a tad and it'll keep going.

I had a request a while back from my sister to record Michael waiting for his toast. I had told her that he'd start blowing when I got the toaster out of the cupboard. Smart boy. He doesn't do it anymore but thought I'd still share his morning breakfast with you all. He's very good at saying please (pease) when he wants something. Thank you (tae tu) usually follows. Joe gets all the credit for that. About 55 seconds in he's doing Pat-A-Cake and then says a mix between all gone and all done. He's usually pretty good about sounding like a truck/car/bus and train. I'll have to catch it later. If you listen carefully, right after I give him the toast, he says tae tu. When he pulls out his bib he's looking for a crumb from his toast. Whenever he's done eating and I get him down he has to see what his bib has in it. He then has to eat whatever he's found. He's such a good eater, messy but good.

Like father like son...

Saturday morning I got Michael dressed and came to find out Joe had picked out a similar outfit for himself. He ended up changing out of it before we ran errands because it was too warm for a sweater. Once we got back home I made him put it back on for pictures. Here's a mini photo shoot. I really need to learn more about my camera and taking portraits. Photo shop would be nice too. hint hint honey :)

Weeding in between photos

Sorry babe just couldn't resist

Randomness

It's 11:40 AM. It's dark and wet outside. Not a typical day in SA. Michael was super cranky this morning due to a molar coming in. I medicated him and put him down for an early nap. I don't want to get ready for the day or even leave the house.

Most of this week Joe's been home from work. He had another RDF procedure (for one of his herniated discs) and was given quarters for a few days. He was sore but still wanted to get out of the house. We decided to go check out the newly opened Target near our house. We ended up finding something to organize Michael's toys downstairs, which was MUCH needed! Ross was near by and so we had to see if we could find some good deals. Which we did! We found some curtains and a rod for our living room. It's hard to imagine them not there now that they are up. Our living room is finally coming together. Did I mention we got new couches and an entertainment center? We'd been using my mom's couch for a few years and finally decided we were ready to buy a new set. We love them. I think we might end up repainting our living room once again and maybe leave it this time.

It's supposed to keep raining today and tomorrow here. Bummer, we've had a lot of crapy weekends latley with nice warm weekdays. We've been needing the rain for a long time though and I'm happy that our grass is getting what it needs.

Sorry this is so random. I felt like I needed to update my blog but didn't know what to do.

Pictures to come later of our new living room!

FYI- I no longer update my friend's list of blogs. I haven't for quite a while as I now use google reader. I haven't deleted it since I know some of you (mom & sis) use it to snoop on my friends blogs.
