Kindergarten Christmas Performance

Michael's school had a Kindergarten Christmas Performance on the Friday morning before school let out for break. He was really excited for it and sang really well. He smiled at us almost the whole time. He loves Kindergarten and is in a dual language class leaning Spanish. He comes home singing Spanish songs and his accent has improved greatly in a few short months. He has two teachers and loves them both, so do I. They are awesome at what they do and I'm so grateful for amazing teachers that make school fun!

2013 Fall Soccer

Another great season of soccer, this time with a different league and the teams were much more even which made the games so much more enjoyable!  Joe coached again and did a great job with 5 boys and 1 girl!  They were the Wolverines again considering the color of the jersey.  Michael improved a lot this season and really had fun with all the kids.

They had an end of the season party at Chuck E Cheeses where the kids all had a fun time and the parents can hardly hear each other. Am I right?  Here Michael is getting his medal...

This awesome treasure was taken that night as well.
He obviously did not want his picture taken.

Michael's 6th Birthday

Michael turned the big 6 this year!  He started off his day with what seems to be the traditional birthday breakfast around here of pancakes and bacon.  He also requested strawberries and blueberry compote for his pancakes and orange juice.

He was excited about his chair being decorated

At school I delivered Oreos for Michael to share with his class. He came home with a birthday crown, a certificate, and a pencil, all in Spanish of course.

Since Michael's birthday was on a weekday we celebrated with a friend the weekend before at the Kiddie Park.  The kids had a blast and I made this fun video with the help of an app.

After the park we headed to lunch at a cute diner and had burgers and shakes!  Yum!

These two!

We know how to celebrate birthdays around here!  Happy 6th Birthday Michael!

First day of Kindergarten!

Finally Michael got to start Kindergarten this year!  He was so excited and really ready!  We never placed him in a preschool or did a co-op preschool but he sure knew what he did!  He loves to learn and soaks it all in.  Daddy reads to him every night and that is hugely accredited to his love of learning and exploring.
He has two teachers and is in a Dual Language class, meaning that roughly half the class are English 1st language and half are Spanish 1st language.  He really enjoys it and comes home singing songs in Spanish.  In his class they learn some things in mostly Spanish only so his partner has to try and explain to him what the teacher is saying and asking them to do.  He has a partner for a few subjects and talks about them all the time.
He has several friends and always says bye to everyone by name, yelling so they can hear them as we walk or drive by, sometime I have to plug my ears.  ;)  He is loving every subject and is always excited to share his day with me.  He especially loves reading and math.  He is getting very artsy with his coloring and impresses me with the color combos he chooses, I believe he has a good eye for it already.  At the first Parent Teacher Conference one of his teacher's told me that she would love to have a class full of Michael's.

{Waiting in the cafeteria for his teacher to come pick him up}

The first few weeks I went to have breakfast at school with Michael to get him comfortable.  He loved punching in his code.  After he'd eat for a bit I'd tell him to let me know when he was ready for me to leave.  After about a week or I asked if he was ready for me to drop him off out front and do it all on his own.  He said yes.  I knew he could since I'd always watch him from a distance to be sure he wasn't becoming dependent upon me.  My little independent Kindergartner!

Here he's sporting his "King Michael" crown.  One boy or girl becomes King or Queen for the day and they are gifted a book with drawings from everyone in the class.  Michael was really excited about the book and didn't want to leave it home.  He wanted to keep it in his backpack so he could look at it whenever he wanted while at school.  They also fill out a "favorites" sign.  His said his favorite color was blue, favorite sport basketball, and loves to eat pizza.
We are so proud of Michael and love seeing him enjoy his first year of school so much.  I know he's off to a great start!

4th of July, July randoms

Independence Day was spent at a Scorpions Soccer game with a fireworks show after the game.  We were able to get free tickets through the Military ticket office.  It was a good game and we had friends sitting a few rows behind us.  The kids surprisingly stayed awake to watch the fireworks.  They had a fun time banging the Toyota sticks together.

This little guy loves his smoothies and does his own hair...

The library had a special guest, Spikey Mikey, he performed a magic show and talked about reading as a special power.  The kids enjoyed his silliness and I was very impressed with a few of his tricks.  He left me wondering how he did a few things.

Waiting for the show to begin.

Fully captivated

Bowling, End of T-Ball & First Fish!

This year we tried out the Free Summer bowling program and loved it.  We went once with our playgroup too.  Bowling is always fun and Landon really enjoyed chilling on the side of the Dino after he bowled.

End of T-Ball season pics...

He was super excited about the trophy.

Proof that we can catch a fish! This season (our first as a family) has been rough fishing.  I think we learned a few things to help us out next go round. We had to throw him back but we eventually caught some catfish another day and we fried it up.

Michael went from four wheels to two!

April 5th Michael lost his training wheels!  He learned to ride without them the same time as his two neighborhood friends Eliana and Allison.

Let's play ball! Season 2

Michael's second season of playing T-ball was another great success!  Joe helped coach and did a great job of trying to keep it fun for all the kids.  They were the Mets this year with orange and blue with their black pants.

Can you see him doing math on his hands... not sure what he was adding up. He can never get enough math.   Love the girl yawning.  ha ha

Joe really enjoys coaching and the kids really love him.  He does a great job.  Michael really did good and tried his best.  At times he wouldn't run fast but then we'd encourage him to pick it up and he took off.
Great Season Mets!
