Joe turns 35!

I surprised Joe with Spurs tickets for the night of his birthday by having him open his present and pull out the Spurs t-shirt.  After he opened it I told him to look inside.  There he found tickets to the game.  He was surprised it was for that night but was excited to go.  My friend watched the boys for us and even put them to bed.

Had to take a selfie to prove I was there too!

My seat had the worst leg space but luckily I'm small so it didn't bother me too much!  I got the tickets on a buy one get one special so I guess mine was the free one!

It was fun but next time we'll try to pick a team that can compete with the Spurs!  It's not quite as exciting of a game with you pummel the competition.

Michael's 6th Birthday

Michael turned the big 6 this year!  He started off his day with what seems to be the traditional birthday breakfast around here of pancakes and bacon.  He also requested strawberries and blueberry compote for his pancakes and orange juice.

He was excited about his chair being decorated

At school I delivered Oreos for Michael to share with his class. He came home with a birthday crown, a certificate, and a pencil, all in Spanish of course.

Since Michael's birthday was on a weekday we celebrated with a friend the weekend before at the Kiddie Park.  The kids had a blast and I made this fun video with the help of an app.

After the park we headed to lunch at a cute diner and had burgers and shakes!  Yum!

These two!

We know how to celebrate birthdays around here!  Happy 6th Birthday Michael!

Landon's 3rd Birthday

Landon had a pretty fantastic 3rd birthday!  We started the morning off with streamers and balloons on his door.  Michael was excited to see Landon open the door right before he left for school.

What birthday would be complete without pancakes and bacon?

For lunch Joe and I took Landon to Red Robin for a delicious lunch and a special birthday song with an ice cream sundae just for him.  Sadly I didn't take any pictures!  Let's just say he was spoiled yet deserving.

Picking out his birthday balloon at the grocery store
He's lucky he's born during football season since he love the cowboys!

Landon picked out a rocket shaped cookie cuter for his cake so I used it to help decorate the cake.  I totally cheated at the last minute and iced a piece of bread and propped it up with tooth picks!  Don't worry no one ate it and he didn't notice!  He still loved it!  We get tired of cake with birthdays a week apart so I opted for a small cake this time. It was perfect.

The big 5!

Michael checking out his cake the morning after I made it

 Presents!

His favorite gift- Angry Birds Game, I think it was because he was the most surprised by it.

Hard to believe that Michael celebrated his 1st Birthday 4 years ago!

Michael was really excited to turn 5!  The morning after his birthday he was getting dressed after he'd already been up for a bit, I was just coming down and he said, "Oh I'm 5, I forgot to leave my blanket in my bed!"  We've been talking to him about not using it so much and to leave it in his room.  So I was surprised when he actually went though with it.  I guess talking about it over time worked since he knew what to expect.  Michael is one smart kid!  He is learning to read and is picking it up quite fast, he can do basic math and writes exceptionally well for his age.   He is so ready for Kindergarten but I'll be glad for him to be a little older next year and more socially ready.  He's been taking gymnastics for twice a week for 3hours as a substitute for preschool.  He loves it and I'm glad he's getting more active play!  Michael can be shy when it comes to new things but once he gets used to it he gets over his fears and come out of his shell.  He loves trying new sports, painting, helping me in the kitchen and riding his bike with training wheels.  He can be a real sweet kid but he does have his moments when he has a temper.  He makes friends pretty easily.  He loves getting his picture taken and will hold a smile forever. We love Michael and are so bless to be his parents!

Landon's 2nd Birthay

Landon turned 2 in September!
We had a few friends over to celebrate after church with dinner and cupcakes.  It was also a last goodbye to celebrate with our dear friends that were moving that week.

I guess it was too messy for his hands so he came up with his own solution

Opening presents later in the week since I didn't order them online soon enough!  Oops!  He didn't seem to mind though.  Next year he might.

Landon is growing up so fast!  He thinks he is just as big as Michael and can and will try anything he does.  He has a funny spunky personality that keeps me laughing daily.  He is very loving and loves giving me kisses.  He is learning his colors and letters already.  He is a great talker and I can understand just about everything he says.  He really admires Joe and Michael.  He still uses his pacifier when he sleeps and also uses a blanket and a few stuffed animals just like brother does.  He loves to eat and will mooch off you even if he just finished eating.  He loves fresh fruits and veggies, he'll eat a fresh tomato like it's candy!  I truly believe it's because I had gestational diabetes with him that he loves veggies so much. We adore Landon so much and can't imagine a day without his bright personality!

Michael's 4th Birthday!

Planning Michael's 4th Birthday was too much fun for me.  Who knew boys parties could be fun even though there is no pink or glitter.  Once we decided Michael had to have a Mario Kart Wii party we got to work, well I did anyway.
These are the invitations I came up with.

The party bags for the kids.

I made the mushroom bags in green and red. The bags included: yellow star shaped marshmallow treat, gold chocolate coins, Mario Kart pencil & sharpener along with green and red sour licorice strips.

I made these Mario and Luigi hats for all the kids to wear, along with matching mustaches.

Joe and my dad took Michael shopping that morning and ended up bringing home a Mario Kart Wii hat so he was not going to trade that in for a regular Mario hat. :(  I was a bit disappointed he didn't want to wear it but oh well.

We played a few easy games like drop the clothes pin in the jar- seeing how many you could get in.

Pin the mustache on Mario!

I painted this guy that morning of the party.  I think he turned out pretty good except that I didn't center his face very well.  :)

For Michael's cake I bought an edible image cake topper.  It was a great decision except that I should have decorated the cake sooner than 5 minutes before the party started because the image didn't have time to absorb the frosting so it was hard to eat.  It was still a yummy egg free chocolate cake.  (Michael is mildly allergic to egg whites so we've been trying to avoid them)

Michael had such a fun time with his friends at his party.  His friends were very generous in their gifts.  Michael got completely spoiled this year with all his gifts and I'm afraid Christmas just isn't going to compare.

My mom, dad and sister were able to visit for a long weekend with us during Michael's Birthday. So Sunday afternoon on Michael's Birthday he got to open his presents from family.  After seeing all the gifts Michael received we will definitely be doing the every other year friend party from now on.

Michael is a sweet and funny boy and we were excited to have a fun party with friends and family for his 4th Birthday!  Here are a few shots I got of Michael a day or so after the party with his Mario hat on.

I have to add in a few pictures of my family although I didn't get one of my dad playing with the boys.

Of course the first thing Michael wants Aunt Shelby to do with him is play Mario Kart!

Puzzle with Grandma.

While my family was here we had a lot of fun.  We went downtown out to dinner- my dad finally got to see the Alamo (we didn't make it there in time to go inside though), on walks around the neighborhood, ate lots of cake from two birthday parties, trip to Costco to roam and spend money of course.  My mom, sister and I were able to do a little bit of shopping.  I really appreciate all the help my family was for Michael's Birthday party I couldn't have done it all without them!
