Dallas Thanksgiving: part 2

Day 2 in Dallas was quite fun for the kids and the adults.  We headed to Legoland Discovery Center in the morning and waited our turn to get in.  The line took a while since there were several people in the prepay line that day (black Friday).

When you are next in line you get your picture taken in front of a green screen.

There are several attractions at LDC...

 

The first attraction is Lego Factory where Professor Brick-a-Brack  "shows" you how to make a Lego.  The boys were pretty fascinated by the process and were captivated by the Professor.

MINI LAND:

 It was awesome to see the Cowboy's Stadium built from Legos having been there the day before.

Both boys had so much fun at RACERS:Build and Test.  Landon was very happy here and could have played here all day had I let him.
 

 

When we were done and saw and played with everything we wanted to we headed out by going through the Lego Store. We weren't about to fork over a bunch of money on any sets so we let the boys pick out one keychain Lego character.  Here is what they chose:

As soon as we got in the car Landon was out and slept a good portion of the 5hr drive back home.

We had an awesome time and would definitely go back! 

 

Dallas Thanksgiving: Part 1

 

A few months back I got the idea that it would be fun to go to a Dallas Cowboy's football game (Joe is a HUGE fan and I knew it was something he'd want to do while living so close).   I realized it would work out best for us if we went to the Thanksgiving Day game.  Once we decided to go I was really excited and nervous to plan for such a big event.  We don't travel much except to see family so to be able to do a family vacation was a treat for us. 

 

Michael was super excited to go so we had to make our paper chain, we started it at 10 days.

 

The morning of, taking off around 7am.

 

We arrived in great time, not much traffic besides a little construction which caused us to slow down & merge to one lane for a mile or so.  I was worried about getting there early since we were planning for us to ride the Cowboys charter bus over.  I had no idea how quickly the parking lot and buses would fill up and we couldn't reserve, so naturally with as many as 80,000 people going to a game I got a little bit nervous that my plan for parking wasn't going to work out. I tried to call and get info but it was only a phone line for the regular bus routes so they had no clue.  Let me tell you I prayed. :) 

Well when we got there, there were only a few cars there, maybe 20 and it held over 300.  We had nothing to worry about and had a little time to spare for pics and a diaper change for Landon. 

 First ride on a bus!  He did so well. 

 

Michael will remember this as his first bus ride but it is either his second or third

 

Poor Landon didn't take a nap in the car on the way to Dallas so he ended up falling asleep on the bus.  Joe ended up carrying him about two blocks from where the buses parked, all the way up several flights of stairs to our seats.  He woke up part way to our seat so I think he ended up getting close to an hr nap, while Joe got a nice workout.

 

 

 This place is awesome.  We didn't get to walk around much but hope to go back for a tour sometime.  I know we didn't get to see all it had to offer.

 

 The screen was awesome. You couldn't help but watch it.

 Over all Landon did pretty good but he didn't have his own seat.  I made the mistake assuming he didn't need a ticket.  Joe pointed out to me that he did after I had already purchased three tickets.  So I bought a random ticket for him.  Someone had an extra seat to use a few rows back.  It worked out okay but I don't want to take a 2yr old again.  He kept wanting to mess with my water bottle and he ended up spilling a drop on a guy. 

 Poor Michael had a cough a few days before this trip but suddenly got worse the night before we left.  It was one of those dry coughs where nothing you do will stop you from coughing every 30 seconds.  I'm not kidding, unless he was asleep he was coughing the ENTIRE trip! We tried everything we could.  I was just thankful we were in the loudest place in Dallas that day!

 I think I only knew one or two of the three songs he sang. 

I haven't been listening to country music much anymore.

 

Joe and I stopped on our way to the hotel at Jack in the Box (since it was Thanksgiving and there wern't many choices) to grab a little bit of food since we didn't want to spend too much money eating at the game. 

 

One 5 hr drive to Dallas + a long football game= two tired kiddos

Michael fell asleep pretty much immediately after we got back to our car.  It was nice not having to try and put kids to bed in a hotel. 

 

No turkey for us, not even a win but it was still a fun and memorable Thanksgiving Day spent with our family.
