I can laugh at myself

Can you?

This is why I am not a cowgirl.  Wrangers do not flatter a woman with no waist and long legs. I wore this to an Activity Day Girls Halloween party last Friday.  This was my first and last time wearing Wranglers.

My brother came home from the Costa Rica San Jose Mission last night.  We weren't able to be there but we emailed him a picture:

Shelby, my sister, was able to take a trip with some friends to San Jose recently and met up with Austin. They had a good time visiting with eachother and she had the chance to attended a baptism.

Apparently he almost didn't make it home because there was an accident causing traffic to the airport out of Costa Rica.  He and another Elder leaving together, prayed and they were able to make it.  Thankfully he's made it home safe and sound.     Welcome Home Elder!

Sand box

Last weekend Joe built a sand box for Michael.  We invited some friends over to come and test it out.

I think they love it!

I'm excited to be able to take Zoila and Adrian's Christmas photo this fall and do a maternity shoot with Zoila!  I'm excited for the practice.  Isn't he just loveable.  We call him fuzzy because of his hair.

Grandma said over the phone the other day that she'd watched Michael's birthday video too many times.  So by request here's a new video.  Sorry I haven't been blogging lately.  Not a whole lot has been happening -except life.

Enjoy.

Michael's Two

Our little boy turns 2 today.  He sure is growing up fast.
We love you baby boy- even though you're not a baby anymore.

What gets this boy up?

Usually when Michael wakes up he'll yell for me to come get him.  I go to lift him out of his crib and he'll lay back down.  He likes to tease you see.  So I tease him back and walk out, waiting for the yell of "Mama" again.  This morning though I had a secret weapon.  When he layed back down I told him we were having waffles for breakfast.  I've never seen him so excited to have breakfast.   Last night was his first time having waffles and he sure enjoyed them.

Happy to be up and eating waffles for breakfast!

I guess whip cream is the latest hand cream.

This is our forecast for the day:

Any suggestions for fun things to do on a rainy day?

Our trip home

Michael and I were able to make it to the fair Friday evening with my mom and my sister.  We walked around and let Michael enjoy the animals. We of course couldn't leave without buying greasy fair food!  We chose a double corn dog and a strawberry funnel cake.  Mmm yum.
Michael enjoyed watching this ride of course because it had flags on top.
Michael's allergies started to get the best of him.  He had red eyes and a runny/itchy nose.  I was having a hard time with my allergies as well.

My Grandma McClellan's funeral went really well and it was nice to see lots of family we hadn't seen in a while.  It was fun to hear stories I'd never heard about my grandma even though some were repeated to grandchildren over and over again. I guess I always missed out on those stories.  One of them was about how my grandma was outside her home and had gotten bit by a dog on the rear.  She went to the Dr. and he said, "So you've been bitten by a dog?"  She said, "Yes".  He asked, "Can you tell me where?"  She said, "On 3rd and Jefferson."  Which of course was her address.
Joe kept an eye on Michael at the funeral.  He seemed to keep busy.
While we were in WA McKenzie had his Eagle Court of Honor.  It was nice to be able to attend.
Congrats Kenzie!
Our trip home wouldn't be complete without some fresh picked raspberries!

My sweet & funny 95 year old grandma passed away over the weekend.  We'll miss her dearly.  She was the funniest old lady I ever knew.  She would tell the funniest stories and had an amazing memory.   I'm sad that Michael never got to meet her.  We'll be making a trip home to attend her funeral services in Union, OR

Surgery a no go

Joe came home today after his apt. The doc said no. He was so dissapointed, and so was I. We have been waiting for this hoping it would end the pain. We were both really surprised. We thought it was for sure but the doctor didn't seem to think it would help him. We are considering a second opinion.
Catching up on a few things here...
Our back yard landscaping finished with more grass, plants, flowers and two trees.

Joe planted the flowers infront of our cable boxes. Can you see them?

Michael has been wanting to help out with anything and everything lately by
unloading the dishwasher and helping carry in a grocery bag.

He's also been exploring the potty.
We've been pretty successful with just asking him to go and he will!
I've finally got my rear in gear and started using the two gallons of paint I purchased a few weeks ago. Tonight I hope to get farther!

Today Joe has an appointment with a surgeon for the herniated disc in his neck. He's been using pain killers to help with the pain lately and wants more relief. Hopefully he'll be able to have this surgery and it'll be a success. Joe researched that surgery for the neck is the most successful for all herniated discs. The out look sounds good, lets pray it will be for him.
